Occupational Therapy

The licensed occupational therapist can be of assistance in helping a patient be independent at home. The therapist works with purposeful, goal oriented activity in evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of persons whose functions are impaired by physical illness or injury, emotional disorders, congenital or developmental disability, or aging process.

  • Improvement of neuromuscular function
  • Increase balance
  • Decrease pain
  • Improve posture for standing/sitting
  • Improve transfers
  • Evaluation of cognitive and perceptual skill
  • Training in functional communication,
    home management, environment re-entry
  • Education

Criteria:

Service is generally rendered to a patient who is homebound, rendered concurrently with one or more skilled services (nursing, speech, or physical therapy), and included in plan of treatment by physician.
