Social Services

Medical social services are provided to patients by a qualified medical social worker under the direction of a Master of Social Work. The medical social worker addresses the social and emotional needs of the individual that may impede a speedy response to medical care and rate of recovery.

Services:

• Provide supportive counseling in dealing with illness
• Assist caregivers and patients with arrangements care
  in the home
• Educate caregivers and clients on accessing appropriate
  community organizations and programs
• Provide assistance in navigating social programs

Criteria:

• Medical social services must be deemed by a physician to be
  medically reasonable and necessary to the treatment of
  patient’s illness or injury
• Services are provided according to the individual program requirements
